When Art Meets Comedy
What happens when you put an artist and a comedian in a room with one house rule: “Two drink minimum”?
You get raw, intelligent, and sometimes controversial conversations — always insightful, always authentic.
Welcome to Two Drink Minimum.
Meet the Hosts
Gabriel Shaffer is an acclaimed visual artist, curator, and co-owner of Mortal Machine Gallery in the heart of the French Quarter. As the son of visionary folk artist Cher Shaffer, Gabriel grew up immersed in art, mentored by some of the genre’s pioneers.
Chris Trew is a comedian, creative force, and venue builder who’s opened five comedy spaces across three cities. Known for his boundary-pushing shows and global workshops, Chris brings the energy, the questions, and the punchlines.
Gabriel had been brewing the concept for Two Drink Minimum for years — but timing is everything. After crossing paths with Chris through the comedy scene, the chemistry clicked. The idea had finally found its co-host.
The Format
It’s simple:
Two creatives. A rotating guest list. One house rule.
Each episode invites artists, thinkers, performers, and friends to join a conversation that’s honest, unscripted, and fueled by curiosity — and, yes, a couple drinks. There’s no right or wrong, no required political stance. Just people sharing a space in pursuit of better human understanding.
